MSDUK - Case Study

Client: MSDUK (Minority Supplier Diversity UK)

Type of event: Launch of the inaugural MSDUK national awards evening

Venue: Hilton Waldorf Hotel, London

Objective/Brief: The first MSDUK Awards Reception and Dinner celebrated the UK’s best and most innovative ethnic minority businesses (EMBs) and corporations committed to improving diversity in their supply chains. These awards recognised creative, dynamic and customer-focused EMBs and the forward-thinking companies that have embraced supplier diversity.

Top executives from corporate companies, including PepsiCo, BT and JP Morgan amongst others joined MP Keith Vaz and community business leaders to applaud the achievements of suppliers from Britain’s ethnic minorities.
The keynote speakers at the landmark event were Harriet R Michel, president of the National Minority Suppliers Development Council (NSMDC), US, who has taken the message of promoting supplier diversity all over the world, Garry Clancy, commercial director, PepsiCo UK and Ireland and chairperson of MSDUK’s board of directors, Leicester East MP Keith Vaz, and Sonita Alleyne OBE, CEO of the radio production company Something Else.
Five awards were presented on the evening, with more than 250 guests in attendance.

Tasks undertaken: Tania-Tapel’s specialist executives managed the whole event from start to finish,including the evening’s creative menu and operationally managing the outside caterers and sit-down dinner service. RSVP management was handled by Tania-Tapel. Logistical planning of whole event with 2-hours lead time to turnaround the room was left in the capable hands of Tania-Tapel executives to execute a well-planned event. AV production and equipment hire was managed by Tania-Tapel to ensure showreels, sound and lighting checks completed in advance and monitoring precision timing on the evening.

Guests were greeted in the beautiful surrounds of the Palm Court where they enjoyed exquisite canapés and drinks and the gentle tones of a pianist. Then it was on to the stunning Adelphi Suite where guests enjoyed a lavish Indian and Caribbean menu to the sound of a lively jazz band, followed by the awards ceremony, compered by BBC’s international foreign correspondent Navdip Dhariwal.
